MV and Unimed Bauru: more efficiency in the medical activities and patient care

Seeking to improve information security and service quality, Hospital Unimed Bauru (HUB) replaces its management system with SOUL MV. The institution, which is already a reference due to its bold structure and excellence in patient care, also stands out for the challenge of incorporating the concepts and pillars of e-Clinical Governance, a management model that seeks to improve the standards of clinical and medical practices.

A concern

Given that one of the main concerns of HUB is to offer personalized care with quality and comfort, the institution has already gone through a process of implementation of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), but without success. For having technological constraints that hindered the work of the medical team, instability, lack of integration and, consequently, low usability, the solution was generating delays in patient care and loss of adherence of the medical staff, which made Unimed Bauru choose to change the supplier. “From the moment it is faster to continue a service with the use of paper instead of the system, one loses interest in the technology,” said Antônio Dias Soares Neto, IT manager at Unimed Bauru.

The change

Hospital Unimed Bauru entered into a partnership with MV to have available a set of hospital management solutions that integrate the SOUL MV platform, including the Electronic Patient Record (EPR), to facilitate the flow operating data across sectors and integrate hospital processes. The implementation of the EPR of SOUL MV will start in the second half of the year to facilitate the work routine of the medical staff and other health professionals of HUB. The solution allows, for example, the creation of standardized prescriptions, clinical protocols and automatic alerts in case of drug interactions and allergies, and now, with the integration of UpToDate, a feature developed by Wolters Kluwer, it ensures more clinical intelligence to medical activities because the EPR allows health professionals to have direct access to more than 10,500 articles on 22 specialties. The mobile version of EPR is another highlight with regard to clinical and healthcare management. Using the tablet solution allows healthcare professionals to access the electronic patient records and perform a check up beside the bed, a condition to ensure the correct medication, at the right dose, with the right patient, at the right time.

Paperless hospital

In addition to contributing to the productivity of health professionals, the EPR, along with other hospital management solutions that integrate SOUL MV platform and support the definition of paths to achieve improvements in service quality and operational efficiency, will allow Unimed Bauru to reach the status of paperless hospital. “At the end of the implementation conducted by MV, which should take place in the first quarter of next year, we will achieve greater patient safety, improved risk management and, above all, eliminate the use of paper at the institution,” said the IT manager.
